About David Brandom

Over the years, saxophonist, composer, and arranger David Brandom has made a career of working with a wide range of recording artists.    Besides having toured with Frank Sinatra for many years, David has worked with many great artists including: Paul Anka, Tony Bennett, Randy Brecker, Bobby Caldwell, Bill Charlap, Natalie Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Jon Faddis, Jimmy Heath, Billy Joel, Elton John, David Liebman, Joe Lovano, Melissa Manchester, David Matthew’s Super Latin Jazz Orchestra, Johnny Mathis, Maria Schneider’s Big Band, Pete McGuinness, Doc Severinson, Sting, James Taylor, They Might Be Giants, The Spinners, The Temptations, and The Four Tops.  David has also played in many Broadway and Off-Broadway shows including: “A Bronx Tale,” “Ain’t Misbehavin,” “Annie,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” “Beautiful,” “Billy Elliott”, “Chicago,”“Fosse,” “Grease,” “Hairspray,” “In the Heights,” “Jersey Boys,” “Jesus Christ, Superstar” “Little Mermaid,” and “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.”  David is a founding member of the Westchester Jazz Orchestra which released it’s first CD, “All In” in 2007 and it’s second critically acclaimed CD, “Maiden Voyage Suite” in August, 2011. 

Originally from Kansas City Mo., David moved to New York in 1984 and has lived in Larchmont NY since 1989, with his wife Stacy, and his 3 sons, Eric, Bryan and Jon.  David earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at The University of North Texas and a Master’s Degree in Studio Composition from Purchase College in New York.  After teaching for years at both Purchase College and at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, David taught Instrumental Music in the Edgemont School District in Scarsdale, NY,  for 11 years before retiring in 2019.  Since then, he has become a very in-demand private sax, flute and clarinet instructor. 

A prolific composer and arranger, David released  his critically acclaimed CD, “Home” in Oct. 2002 , and his second CD, “No Way Out” was released on Blujazz in  November, 2007.  Several recording projects are currently in the works, including an album by “Meta4”, a quartet focusing on original jazz arrangements of pop tunes that became the focus during the pandemic.
